Arrive Alive Program
The History and Direction of the Arrive Alive Program
History:
The Arrive Alive Program was created by J. Marshall Hughes of Hughes & Coleman. Mr. Hughes understands the importance of educating students on the dangers of drinking and driving because he lost his best friend in an alcohol-related accident on prom night his senior year in high school. He decided to create a program that would present students with real-life tragedies in order to give them a more realistic view of the consequences of drinking and driving.
Program:
During the Arrive Alive Program, students are given a brief introduction to the program followed by Mr. Hughes' personal story. Mr. Hughes then introduces a 30-minute video, which presents the real-life stories of three families. After the video presentation, students are given a pledge card agreeing to not drink and drive or to call for help if they are faced with an uncertain situation. Once the pledge card has been signed by both student and parent/guardian they can mail the pre-stamped card to Hughes & Coleman. They will then be entered in a drawing for a $100 Best Buy gift card.
Every 40 minutes someone in the United States is killed in a drunk driving accident.
